2021 Family Day sleigh rides

Swift Current, SK - Considering COVID-19, we knew we needed a safe alternative to Family Skate this year. Our partners, the City of Swift Current and Pioneer Co-op, put our community minds together and came up with a free sleigh ride event in Riverdene Park in Swift Current!

Registration for the event was so successful, the sleigh ride bookings filled up in minutes! Over 120 attendees withstood the cold and enjoyed hot chocolate, pre-packaged snacks, and entries to win a family fun package valued at $250.

“It was a truly perfect option for us,” says Britt Ruest, Innovation Marketing Specialist and volunteer at the event. “It was a safe and fun way to enjoy the outdoors with your family. Granted, it was chilly! Our attendees were troopers and the hot chocolate sure helped!”

Lost Valley Horse Ranch provided 20-minute sleigh rides around the park from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Following COVID-19 safety precautions, we allowed only one household per ride with a maximum of eight people in the sleigh at once. All volunteers and participants always wore masks to follow our Provincial guidelines.

Rounding off the day, we made the draw for our $250 prize package winner. Congratulations to Melissa Sawatzky. Pioneer Co-op and Innovation also donated $1,000 to the Family Resources Centre in Swift Current. How fitting on Family Day!

Thanks again to everyone who attended and volunteered at our Family Day sleigh rides.
