As part of its ongoing commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, Innovation Federal Credit Union has proudly pledged $1 million over the next 10 years to support Indigenous Peoples through the Indigenous Community Development Fund. This substantial investment aims to foster growth, development, and opportunity within Indigenous communities.

In a heartfelt ceremony, Dean Gagné, Chief Disruption Officer, was accompanied by staff and management from the three Innovation northern advice centres located in La Loche, Buffalo Narrows, and Île-à-la-Crosse. Together, they presented staff and students from Twin Lakes Community School with a cheque for $10,000, earmarked for the construction of a new playground. This contribution is a testament to Innovation’s dedication to creating positive change and supporting the well-being of Indigenous children and families.

"We are honored to contribute to Twin Lakes Community School,” says Gagné. “This playground will not just be a place for children to play; it represents a space for fun, joy and community. Funding this playground is not just a good thing to do, it’s the right thing to do."

“Twin Lakes Community School would like to thank Innovation Federal Credit Union and the Indigenous Community Development Fund for their generous donation to our Playground Project,” says Gillian Hanson, Principal of Twin Lakes Community School. “The current playground has served our school and community for decades and we look forward to replacing it in the summer of 2026. Having a safe space for children to play both during school hours and after is important to the health and development of our students. We have been working hard to fundraise the money for the playground and will continue through the next two school years. The children of Buffalo Narrows thank you!”
